Op 1 februari 1978 werd de KÖCO stiftlastechniek in Nederland geïntroduceerd. De eerste afnemers waren scheepswerven. Binnen deze bedrijfstak werden systemen ontwikkeld om d.m.v. stiftlastechnieken secties te stellen.

Dit resulteerde in de perfectionering van de machines en de ontwikkeling van speciale lasbouten,

strook-/strekbalken en stelbruggen. Het totaalconcept wordt nu over de hele wereld in de scheepsbouw toegepast.
